Brief Bio: Bill Carpenter, b. 1942

After twelve years of work in Broadway, Off-Broadway and regional theaters, Bill founded the Midway Project in 1972.  This non-profit organization explored alternative forms of entertainment, with a concentration on schools and community agencies.  In 1985, he and his wife, Lotte, incorporated the Midway Caravan and marketed their family shows and activities across North America.  Over the last quarter century these programs have been mainstays at major fairs, festivals, shopping centers and theme parks from New York to Hawaii.  In recent years, Bill has turned his attention to designs for family entertainment environments.  He is also at work on a series of books related to the search for new cultural models.
